The company was established in 2003 to meet the needs of Soilmec customers in the field of small diameter drilling, as they had been so far mostly focused on Large Diameter Piles.

In fact PSM absorbed the workforce and technicians who had been working for engineer Patrizio Puntel, who is internationally known as one of the leading experts in small diameter drilling techniques. After a career of ups and downs, the Puntel-Soilmec collaboration materialised in PSM.

The numerous advantages resulting from such a union were immediately perceived by the market and, over time, it extended its presence all over the world through Soilmec sales network with a complete range of Micropile and Tunnelling rigs.

Moreover, PSM can rely on the well-known flexibility and design skills of engineer Puntel, to satisfy the requests for new projects, prototypes and special machines, which could be hardly met in the past. Having a separate production unit dedicated to a specific type of products, has improved Soilmec offer significantly, giving it higher visibility on the global market. Soilmec too benefited from the ancillary industries working in north-eastern Italy: optimized suppliers, improved quality of manufactured products and better value chain of the Soilmec Group.

PSM can manage new lines of products with ease, as their production process is more industrial than competitors, although product customisation is ensured. PSM customers can enjoy industrialisation quality combined with technology flexibility in the manufacture process.

Their collaboration with Trevi, the Ground Engineering Division of the Group, guarantees constant exchange of information on projects, as well as the possibility to offer a high-end technical assistance and spare parts service, via two hubs specially dedicated to customer support. On December 9, 2013, Drillmec S.p.A purchased 30% of the company shares, and thus the Trevi Group acquired its entire share capital. On January 15, 2014, Drillmec S.p.A. sold to PSM the “Georisorse” branch of the company (the factory based in Parma is exclusively dedicated to the manufacture and sale of equipment in the field of hydrogeology research) and at the same time it was converted into a public limited-liability company.

From that time on, PSM joined its expertise in micropile with the more complex and important field of Water, taking on projects from Drillmec S.p.A., but most of all fulfilling a crucial product development role in new markets like North Africa and South America. The Water field has become paramount for PSM. More than 50 people are employed in the detached factory based in Parma to develop this new market. Tenders, direct sales to both private and public bodies, flexibility and know-how boosted the fast growth of the branch and today PSM-Georisorse can compete in the most important international tenders. Similarly, Soilmec S.p.A. used to manufacture a few models of micropile and tunnelling rigs at its own factory in Cesena but starting from January 1, 2014, PSM was entrusted with the whole production of micropile and tunnelling equipment, making it the company of the Trevi Group specially dedicated to this business. As a result, the company became a full-fledged independent enterprise, namely in terms of purchasing, manufacture and assembly, commissioning, CE certification, after-sales and spare parts.

The Technical Department is managed by the Trevi Group technical department, although it has been enhanced to ensure direct contact with the market. Sales activities will be coordinated by a newly appointed Sales Manager; however customers can rely on the worldwide present Soilmec Network. The Area Managers will still be the Managers for their own territories, thus ensuring continuity and professionalism to Soilmec market. The Soilmec Group believes that the parties involved can all benefit from the synergies set up over the years from previous collaboration activities, not only sales wise. Furthermore we should not underestimate the experience gained by the Area Managers so far, as this is a true asset for the company. Indeed, it was thanks to them that new products were successfully added to the existing network.
